Fuzion – Shortlisted once more for Prestigious Award

18 May 2011

Fuzion Communications, the Cork based PR, Marketing and Graphic Design agency, has been shortlisted for a coveted Award for Excellence in Public Relations by the PR Institute of Ireland and the PR Consultants Association of Ireland.  The leading agency beat tough competition to be shortlisted in the category of Best Charity/Not for Profit Campaign for its work with the Tour de Munster and its chosen charity Down Syndrome Ireland.

Commenting on the nomination Deirdre Waldron of Fuzion said: "We are so proud of our work with Tour de Munster having worked on the project for the past 6 years and hope that this announcement will lead to more awareness for this amazing fundraising drive, which last year alone raised almost €250,000 in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland."   Deirdre added "We are thrilled to have been nominated for this national award as it is a testament to the quality of the service we provide. We are now up against some of the biggest agencies in the country, but it shows again how we in Fuzion are continually punching above our weight. Our approach to PR is very holistic and we look at each client individually and how best to communicate their messages, both with traditional and new media.  This works really effectively for our clients and being shortlisted for such a prestigious award once again demonstrates that our methods are both results driven and extremely effective."

The standard of entries in the annual awards is extremely high and only the best campaigns receive a nomination.  The judging panel, comprising industry experts and journalists, took almost two months to draw up the shortlist of approximately 30 top PR companies.  In reaching the final, alongside huge global agencies, Fuzion has once again now cemented its position as one of the best PR firms in the country. Now in its 11th year, the Tour de Munster is a fundraising initiative set up by Paul Sheridan and a dedicated team of cycling enthusiasts with the aim of helping those in need whilst enjoying the camaraderie that comes with a gruelling group cycling event. Towards the end of August each year over 100 cyclists participate in a 600 km, 4 day route through Munster, raising on average €100,000 each year for chosen charities.  Michael O’Gorman, Tour de Munster Liaison Officer for DSI Munster stated "We are delighted that Fuzion has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award.  The team has been so supportive, always on call and have always worked so hard to communicate our message to the media and the general public.  The PR coverage ensured that the general public was very much aware of the campaign and dug really deep into their pockets during the four days of the fundraising throughout Munster."Paul Sheridan, founder of Tour de Munster stated "When fundraising, our team of cyclists needs as much support as possible and the feedback from them was that it was so much easier to collect funds when people were aware what they were fundraising for, thanks to the strong PR campaign. As well as this, thanks in part to the PR activity and to the work that the DSI team did in each area on the ground, we got  a warm welcome in each town and village we cycled through, which really helped encourage the weary legs of the cyclists."

The Awards for Excellence in Public Relations, organised by the PRII and PRCA industry bodies, takes place on 19th June in Dublin.
