Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens Host West Cork Jobs Forum

17 August 2011

Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens in Clonakilty will host a West Cork Jobs Forum on Thursday 25th August from 6.30pm. The West Cork Jobs Forum organised by Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens will focus on providing people with the tools to improve their skills, tailor their CVs, and improve their online presence to boost their chances of getting a job.

Speaking about the event, Teresa O'Neill, Owner of Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens said, "This is about letting people know that there are support networks available to them throughout their job search, that there are free initiatives which have the potential to help them develop and that while unemployment can be a time of immense frustration, it can also be an opportunity to take time and think about the direction you would like your future career to take. We at Fernhill House Hotel are delighted to be organising such a positive initiative. We are delighted to assist in any way we can if it helps get people back to work."

Introducing the speakers will be Managing Director of the Cork Independent Newspaper, Jarlath Feeney. The initial speaker will be Donal Molloy of Career Consult, a leading Irish Career Consulting Agency which specialises in Career Planning, One to One Coaching and CV Review. He will be speaking on the importance of tailoring your CV to get to the interview process.

Following on from Career Consult will be a workshop delivered by Greg Canty of award-winning PR agency Fuzion Communications. As an established blogger and social media expert, Greg will be speaking about the importance of one's online presence to generate employment leads. Also speaking at the event will be Irene Sheridan Head of CIT's Strategic Innovation Projects Unit. Irene will address the wide range of courses available to people through the Springboard Initiative.

There will also be a guest speaker from the West Cork Job Support Group speaking about life from unemployment through to finding another job and how they successfully achieved that transition.

Supporting the event will be Cork's leading newspaper the Cork Independent. This is the second event Jobs Forum the Cork Independent has supported in the past number of weeks. Prior to this, the leading local newspaper gave its support to another free initiative, the Conor Cunneen Jobs Talk at the Cork International Airport Hotel. Speaking about the event organized by Fernhill House Hotel & Gardens, Managing Director of the Cork Independent Jarlath Feeney said, "Rebuilding the confidence and motivation of people who are seeking work is what this information evening is all about. The Cork Independent is delighted to support and promote the jobs forum and I would like to encourage everyone seeking work, and those who may have a friend or family member seeking work to come along next Thursday evening. I promise it will be a positive experience."

The event is free to attend but booking is essential. Places can be reserved by emailing Jill Jill@fuzion.ie
