OPERATION ELECTRIC! COMMUTERS URGED TO CYCLE TO WORK THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON

28 November 2011

Sunday November 28th: With Operation Freeflow kicking off this week, commuters are being urged to save themselves the hassle of sitting in heavy Christmas traffic and consider cycling to work instead.

And to encourage this, Ireland’s leading supplier of Electric Bikes, Kenbay, are now offering free trials of Electric Bikes to people who would like to try before they buy and give cycling a go. Electric Bikes have become a hugely popular phenomenon throughout Europe in recent years as more and more people acknowledge their benefits and potential. Recent figures reveal that sales of Electric Bikes are actually expected to double and even quadruple in some countries by 2016.

Electric Bikes are the ideal choice for people interested in cycling but may not have the fitness levels or ability to cycle a push bike. With a maximum assisted speed of 25kph, the bikes are perfect for climbing up tricky hills and travelling longer distances. It also makes them ideal for avoiding the ‘sweat factor’ which turns many people off cycling to work.

Ronan Byrne, Marketing Director of Kenbay Electric Bikes said "We’re launching an Electric Commuter challenge this December to encourage people to consider cycling to work. With traffic getting heavier in city centres around the country during Christmas and New Year, people could save valuable time and money and also avoid the frustration of sitting in traffic by hopping on one of our bikes and giving it a go". People who are interested in trialling an electric bike can log onto www.electricbikes.ie and register for a free trial.

Established in 2006, Kenbay Bikes are Ireland’s leading home-grown producers and suppliers of Electric Bikes. The company offers a wide range of bikes to suit people of all ages including its exclusive new range of products incorporating the brand new 36V LiFePO4 Battery. Brand new to the market, the battery has at least double the lifespan of the standard lithium battery, which will be even more cost effective and beneficial for owners going forward.
