Manor West Charity Pancake Event a Flipping Success!

Manor West Charity Pancake Event a Flipping Success!

22 February 2012

Celebrity chef, Clodagh McKenna kicked things off with cooking demonstrations to help even the most culinary challenged to make delicious pancakes this Pancake Day. Clodagh was also on hand to answer cooking questions from the audience, give her culinary hints and tips and sign some copies of her new cookbook, “Homemade”.

Visitors to Manor West were spoilt for choice with an extensive selection of Pancakes made by top chefs from Kerry with every taste preference being catered for. Pancakes were sold in aid of Build4Life for €2 and the Chefs were kept busy all day with a stream of hungry shoppers who were delighted with the opportunity to be helping a worthy local Charity.

Joe Browne, Founder of Build4Life say “it’s great to see businesses like Manor West Retail Park get involved with charities as they really help us not only raising much needed funds but making people aware of our charity and the work we do.”

A big highlight of the day was the Manor West Flip Off which invited the chefs to compete for the prestigious title of Flipper of the Year. Hotels and restaurants participating were Manor West Hotel, Ballygarry Hotel, Yogies Frozen Yogurt Bar Manor West,  Jack’s Coastguard Restaurant in Killorglin, Debenhams Style Restaurant Manor West and QC’s Seafood Restaurant in Caherciveen. The winner was Vincent Salmon who represented Manor West Hotel and it was clear he had been practicing as he managed a staggering 125 pancake flips in a minute!

Derek Rusk, Centre Manager was delighted with the turnout at the event: “it was great to see people enjoying themselves and trying the delicious food prepared by the best chefs Kerry has to offer.”

Derek also adds that “I am very grateful to all the chefs who gave of their time freely to be a part of the event. It was truly a great event for the people of Tralee to come together and have fun and help out a deserving charity.”

Manor West Retail Park hopes to make this an annual event and that all participating chefs will return next year to compete for the title of Flipper of the year 2013.
