Stunning New Gardens at Fernhill House Hotel complete with Marquee & Garden Party Area

11 April 2008

Family run Fernhill House Hotel has recently transformed what was a pitch and putt course into a fabulous 'Garden Party' area at Fernhill House Hotel.Last July Proprietors Teresa and Michael O' Neill sought the aid of Adrian Marshall landscape designer and proprietor of Clonakilty Garden Centre and builder John Deasy of DC construction in order to  make their dream a reality.

The idea was to create a signature garden that could be used as a backdrop for Wedding photographs and one that could be enjoyed by guests wishing to while away an afternoon in peaceful surroundings. The finished gardens are spectacular and are now coming into bloom with the spring weather. Features include a rose garden, a marquee area and a bridge with a 20 foot high geezer and light features which are sure to make impressive viewing.

Adrian wanted to create a garden with many different facets to it. As it matures there will be quiet areas to reflect and elements of wild natural beauty. However, there are also quirky and fun elements to the garden such as the ornamental gazebo and the waterfall complete with spectacular lights. He and John worked remarkably well as a team and tweaked the design process between them to create the finished gardens and water features as well as the special 'Garden Party' feature.

The specially commissioned Marquee has recently been erected at Fernhill House Hotel. It will offer room for 160 guests to sit or 200 to stand. It has bar and bathroom facilities. The inside of the marquee is decorated to the highest standard, with a solid floor, silk lined walls, spectacular lighting and a flat lawned area next to it for guests to enjoy on a sunny afternoon. The Marquee is perfect for Weddings or Corporate Events.

The gardens will be officially launched on May 20th when guests can enjoy the full beauty of the garden while sampling a menu of local delights. This has opened up a whole new way of entertaining and has allowed Fernhill House Hotel to offer 'Champagne & Canapés' with a twist. Dee Retalli, head chef, has taken the traditional canapé and stamped it with her own contemporary twist while using local delights. Partygoers can enjoy a menu which includes Union Hall Smoked Salmon & Crème Fraiche Blinis, Ardagh Castle Goat's Cheese and Mini Tomato and Gubbeen Cheese Pizzettes to tempt your taste buds.
