Network Cork 2012 Women in Business Awards Final Call to all Cork Business Women

Network Cork 2012 Women in Business Awards Final Call to all Cork Business Women

05 April 2012

Guest of Honour at the Awards will be Broadcaster and TV Personality, Miriam O’Callaghan, and this year’s judges are Conor Keane, Business Editor of the Irish Examiner, Edel Clancy, Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Musgrave Group and Colette Twomey, Managing Director, Clonakilty Black Pudding.

The Network Business Awards, which is organised by Network Cork, part of a national organisation for women in business, profession and the arts, is one of the main highlights of the organisation’s busy calendar. This year’s event promises to be a very special occasion, due to the high level of success of previous winners who for the past two years have gone on to win the overall National Awards.

Awards Co-ordinator Mary Power, of Network Cork stated “For the past two years, winners from Cork have gone on to win the National Title and we would so love to make it three in a row for Cork.  In business we need all the help we can get to promote and grow our businesses and these awards give business women great opportunities to do just that.  Feedback from previous winners has been really strong, with winners reporting new opportunities, business development and growth that have come as direct result of the awards and we would like to see this continue even more with this year’s winners.”

There are three categories:-

New Business (Self-employed), Established Business (Self-employed), and Employee.

One of last year’s winners Valerie Finnergan Cahill of Ikon Hair Design went on to represent Cork in the National Awards and won the overall Network Ireland Women in Business Awards 2011 stated “Receiving this award made me stop and look at myself and my business and that in itself was so valuable: to get perspective, to see things differently, to analyse what I was doing. I haven't stopped since this - it has given me confidence to know I am on the right track and to trust my judgment.”

Valerie added “As a group Network Cork rallied around me.  Even now, they do. There is always a fantastic feeling from the girls -- everyone in there really wants the best for everyone else. It's that coming together and realizing your strengths that Network Cork is all about.  It's the support.  I would like to take this opportunity to wish this year’s entrants the very best of luck and am so looking forward to a really great day out on the 18th May.”
