The Easter Saturday Charity Eggs-travaganza at the Killarney Outlet Centre was a great success, as families joined local celebrity DarrenO’Sullivan and Cork Footballer Aidan Walsh, to show their support for Bee for Battens.

This wonderful event was organised by Tony Heffernan, founder of Bee for Battens, and provided a wonderful day of fun and entertainment forall, including the ‘Beat the Celebrity’ cycle race; and a ‘Sweets and Treats’ decorating class with Justcooking.ie, where Chef Mark Doeshowed kids how to decorate gingerbread houses, cupcakes and ofcourse, Easter Eggs!  Kids enjoyed a bouncy castle courtesy of A Time to Party; as well as face painting, balloon animals and classical, folk and modern music entrainment, performed by the talented Kerry School of Music, Killarney.

Mike Corcoran, BBQ expert all the way from the USA and proprietor of Mike’s BBQ, Clonakilty, was also on hand to serve mouth-watering hotdogs with his signature BBQ Sauce.

Speaking about the successful fundraising event, Tony said, “For the last two years Bee for Battens has been looking after three times asmany kids as we first started with, and are now developing into an Irish rare disease Charity for children. In Ireland, over 360,000people have a rare disease, and of this number 75% are children. Of these children 30% do not make it to their teenage years! The money raised here today will go to the The Saoirse Foundation to help support its goal of pursuing the development of Irelands first RespiteCentre for families of children with Rare Diseases. I would like to thank Paul and everyone in the Killarney Outlet Centre, and all ourvolunteers for their help.”Paul Sherry, General Manager at the Killarney Outlet Centre, also stated “Easter is one of the Killarney Outlet Centre’s busiest timesof year so hopefully we helped Bee for Battens raise lots of badly needed funds, whilst also creating awareness for the valuable workthey do for families around Ireland. The Money Tree raffle fundraisercontinued throughout the whole weekend, enabling us to raise even morevital funds!”For further information on the Killarney Outlet Centre visit www.killarneyoutletcentre.com  or to be the first to hear of specialoffers, competitions and news by becoming a fan of the Killarney Outlet Centre’s facebook page or following @KillarneyOC on Twitter.
