Double Win for Killarney!

Double Win for Killarney!

13 April 2012

Killarney is making its mark as a centre of culinary excellence as two of its most popular restaurants,   Chapter 40 and Cellar One at The Ross Hotel, recently scooped the accolades of top restaurants in Kerry at The Munster Regional Final of the Irish Restaurant Awards. These awards form part of this year’s Top Restaurants Awards, which will take place in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin on Monday 14th May 2012.

Sponsored by Santa Rita / Sunday Independent Life Magazine, over 300 restaurateurs attended the Munster awards Ceremony at The Imperial Hotel, Cork, which saw Cellar One at The Ross scoop Best Hotel Restaurant and Chapter 40 won the Best Restaurant in Kerry. Both will go forward to represent Kerry in next month’s overall awards.

The Irish Restaurant Awards have cast a spotlight on Ireland’s hottest restaurants and chefs since they began four years ago and Killarney is delighted to have not one, but two wins this year.

Speaking after the awards, Mark Murphy of Chapter 40 said “It’s great to have a strong Killarney contingent competing in these awards tonight.  Killarney hasn’t always featured on the foodie map of Kerry, but hopefully these awards will help to promote the high quality food that Killarney has to offer.”

Commenting on the results, Mike Buckley, president of Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce said “It is a wonderful testament to Killarney to have two of its restaurants be awarded the best restaurants in Kerry, and go through to potentiality win the Regional and All Ireland Title.”
