Let’s Do Lunch…The Mercy Hospital Foundation Ladies Lunch to Benefit Mercy Cancer Appeal

The Mercy University Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce details of their second Annual Charity Ladies Lunch, which takes place in Maryborough Hotel & Spa on Saturday 9th June.

Following on from the success of last year's lunch, this one is set to be even bigger and better. On arrival at 12pm guests will enjoy a drinks reception sponsored by Barry Collins Supervalu, Carrigaline, followed by a sumptuous three course meal.

Ladies should dress to impress, as there are some fantastic prizes up for grabs thanks to the Keane's Jewellers who have sponsored €500 worth of jewellery for ‘Best Dressed Lady', along with prizes for ‘Best Dressed Shoes' and ‘Best Dressed Accessories'. On top of that, there are some great raffle prizes to be won, and every lady in attendance will walk away with a fabulous goodie bag.

Proceeds raised at this year's Ladies Lunch will benefit the Mercy Cancer Appeal which helps the Mercy Hospital to continue to provide a world class service to patients diagnosed with cancers of the oesophagus, stomach and pancreas, as well as prostate, testicular, kidney and penile cancer despite state funding cuts. The Mercy Foundation's fundraising efforts are ongoing, as they raise funds to invest in three key areas:-  Diagnosis, where they are donating over €900,000 worth of scanning equipment to provide a more detailed diagnosis of cancers, which is key to planning effective treatment for patients; Treatment, where they are funding the development of Rapid Access Clinics so that patients with cancer of the kidney, bladder, prostate or testes can have access to treatment faster, using the most up to date technology in a world class hospital; and Care, where by supporting a Cancer Liaison Nurse and supporting Patient Support Meetings they ensure that cancer patients and their families are cared for, supported and listened to as they go through their cancer journey.

Speaking about the upcoming event, lunch organiser, Rosemary O'Leary, Fundraising Executive at the Mercy University Hospital Foundation said "Our Ladies Lunch is a great opportunity to meet old friends and to make new ones, as well as being an integral part of the Mercy Hospital Foundation's fundraising efforts, as it helps fund the Mercy's cancer care services. Tickets are already selling fast for this year's event, so we're encouraging ladies to get theirs soon!"
