40 New Jobs for Cork Motor Industry

17 July 2012

The family team behind the most successful Toyota dealership in the country, Macroom Motors, have just announced a major recruitment drive, having recently been awarded the Toyota and Lexus franchise for Cork City.

The new city dealership, which will open its doors in early August, will operate as Lehane Motors, and will initially be based in the old Wilton Motors premises in Bishopstown representing the Toyota brand in Cork. This new development will result in 20 new jobs, which will rise to at least 40 when they realise their plans to build a new state of the art Toyota and Lexus facility in 2014.  For the time being the Lexus brand will be based out of Macroom Motors.

John Lehane, Lehane Motors Managing Director stated "This is an exciting time for all of us as we are busy getting the premises ready and recruiting our new team. Our home in Cork city will first be in Wilton, but we have plans to build a new state-of- the art Toyota and Lexus dealership in the city, making us one of the largest retailers of new and used cars in the country."

John added "Macroom Motors which was founded by my father Donal has had a very successful association with Toyota Ireland over the 37 years that we have worked together. We are delighted to have the opportunity to open Lehane Motors and getting to know the many loyal Toyota customers of Cork city in the near future."

First to be recruited and heading up the team is Paudie Donegan, who has just been appointed General Manager of the new Cork city Toyota dealership.  Paudie has been working in the motor industry for the past 15 years; has held senior positions in both Kearys and MSL dealerships in Cork and he is relishing the new challenges and opportunities.  "At Lehane Motors we have a great opportunity to create something different and the team we are looking to recruit will be part of one of the most dynamic teams in the motor industry, offering car owners a new era for motoring in Cork.

Paudie added. "We are optimistic about the economic conditions from now until the end of the year and through 2013.  Cork is such a positive place to do business - this coupled with the strong product offering from Toyota and our focus on delivering the highest levels of customer service with our new team in Wilton, will be a winning combination."

Commenting on the new Toyota dealership, David Shannon, Managing Director of Toyota Ireland stated "We are excited to be working with John, Paudie and the team on the imminent opening of Lehane Motors. Macroom Motors has a huge history with Toyota in Ireland and has a fantastic reputation in Cork. This has been achieved through the consistent delivery of great value and the highest quality of customer service, and we are sure that Lehane Motors will quickly establish a similar reputation in the city. We believe that together with Lehane Motors we can deliver an unbeatable offering to current and future Toyota customers in Cork."
