COUNTY ARMS TO CELEBRATE OFFALY’S TOP LOCAL FOOD PRODUCERS AT GALA TASTING EVENING

The County Arms Hotel will host a special evening of fine dining on Friday August 3rd, dedicated to showcasing Offaly’s top local food producers.

The event, which coincides with the hotel’s 50th anniversary, will incorporate a seven course tasting menu featuring the finest quality ingredients available throughout the region.

Members of the public are invited to attend the tasting which will be exquisitely prepared by Head Chef Jason Daly assisted by the Loughnane family and their team at the County Arms Hotel.

The suppliers showcasing their products on the night include Old Farm Pork in Lorrha (www.oldfarm.ie ) , Tipperary; Ralph Haslam of Mossfield Organic Cheese Farm in Birr ( www.mossfield.ie ); Ray Dunne from Quarrymount Free Range Beef in Killeigh, and Pat O’ Meara vegetables in Birr.

The hotel will also feature lavender Ice-cream from the walled garden, the free-range hens eggs will be used to make the crème brulee, home made rhubarb and garden peas will also feature – even the flower arrangements will be exclusively from the County Arms Hotel garden.

In addition, all the guests will enjoy a tasting of the County Arms’ own wine; produced directly from the grapes grown in the 2011 harvest in the 200 year old gazebo.

Commenting on the event Peter Loughnane of the County Arms Hotel said “Food lovers in Ireland now demand provenance from their food and so they should. Every plate our guests taste on our Local Food Heroes evening will be traceable directly to the farmer, fisherman or gardener.
