Manor West Retail Park Gets Flipping for Charity of the Year 2013 Saturday 9th February 1pm to 4pm

08 February 2013

Andrew Rudd  will be at the Centre giving cooking demonstrations on how to make the perfect pancake in a few easy steps that even the most culinary challenged will be able to follow, as well sharing his top hints and tips so they won’t be a flop this Pancake Day. Andrew will also share some alternative recipes for the old faithful pancake. Manor West are thrilled to be hosting the pancake extravaganza for the second year running after last year’s success and Derek Rusk, Centre Manager says “Everyone loves pancakes and on Sunday 10th we can all enjoy some really great recipes, cooked some of Kerry’s finest chefs, as well as by Andrew Rudd, and best of all it’s all for a good cause.”

The event will coincide with the announcement of the “Manor West Charity of the Year 2013”, an initiative that sees 10 Kerry charities shortlisted and all vying to be named the lucky recipient of a prize package that could be worth in excess of €20,000. This is the second year that Manor West will be choosing a beneficiary Charity of the Year as a way of giving back to the community and raising awareness for the associated charities.  To help all the charities gain exposure and support Manor West will be holding a Charity Information Day at the event on Saturday 9th February from 1pm to 4pm, where all charities will set up an information stand where visitors can come and learn more about the great things these charities are doing for the community.

The winning charity will be awarded a package which could yield the charity, a package in excess of €20,000 in the year. Derek is delighted to once again be teaming up with a host of proactive and well deserving charities and says “This is a fantastic opportunity for all the charities to get involved, get their charity’s name out there and drum up support for the competition. We look forward to hearing the results.”

As well as his cooking demonstration Andrew will judge the Flip Off, which will see the top chefs from hotels and restaurants in Kerry compete for the prestigious title of Flipper of the Year. Last year saw some steep competition and great effort by all chefs and they will be back to try and claim the title. Manor West is excited to be hosting the event and Derek said “We are delighted that so many of the top hotels and restaurants from around the county have agreed to participate.  It is a great way to get the community involved in a fun day out which is all in aid of a well deserving cause.
