Dunnes Stores has a lot to celebrate.  The much loved retailer is now the number one food retailer in Ireland, and has consistently award winning products at both local and global levels including a recent win at the IQFAs, where Dunnes Stores was announced Retailer of the Year.  On Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December, Dunnes Stores are bringing the celebrations to Galway, with the unveiling of their new look state-of-the-art store in Briarhill, with a weekend full of fashion, food, lots of giveaways and fun for all the family.

Lovers of great food and fashion are invited to come along to experience this exciting and innovative new shopping experience, which has been created in collaboration with some of the leading Irish names in food, fashion, and homeware – all under one roof, and all delivering on the Dunnes Stores award winning promise of better value.

What makes the store so special is the unique range and choice it constantly offers to its customers, through the Dunnes Stores brand which offers great value and quality with the full collection from Dunnes Stores fashion and homeware ranges, as well as the exclusive fashion and home collections from household names such as Paul Costelloe; Francis Brennan; Lennon Courtney; Carolyn Donnelly; Paul Galvin; Helen James; Helen Steele; and Leigh Tucker’s wonderful Children’s collection, Willow, which will be housed in an expansive new children’s fashion area. Michael Mortell’s home range is also available, as well as accessories by Galway native and visionary designer, Joanne Hynes. All of this is available under one roof, together with Dunnes Stores Savida and Gallery brands, offering Galway shoppers an unrivaled and exciting customer choice.

Another big magnet for shoppers to Dunnes Stores Briarhill is the new world class Food Hall, home to artisan food producers such as Sheridan’s Cheesemongers, which was first established in Galway by Kevin Sheridan; and Dunnes Stores own in house Fishmonger, as well as the full range from the multi-award winning Simply Better Collection.

The new Food Hall now is also home to one of Ireland’s leading fresh food delicatessens, Baxter and Greene Market Deli with cafe seating where shoppers can “Grab & Go” or eat in store, and for shoppers who wish to linger longer, there is a large new Dunnes Stores Cafe on the first floor.  Together with free wifi throughout the store, as well as ample free parking, the store is fast becoming a popular place not only to shop, but to meet friends and enjoy the new dining experience.

Paul McGrath,  Dunnes Stores Briarhill Manager stated “It’s been a very special time for us and also for Dunnes Stores as a whole. We are officially Ireland’s number one Food Retailer, and just recently we have been awarded Irish Retailer of the Year. We brought home numerous national and international awards in 2019 and this year also marks the 75th anniversary of the business, and now with our beautiful new look store in Briarhill – we’re bringing the celebrations to Galway in a big way!”

Commenting on the plans for the ‘Unveiling Weekend’ weekend, Paul added, “Before the festive season begins in earnest we wanted to organise a special weekend to say thank you to our customers and our hard working team for their patience and support as we went through our ‘makeover’.  We couldn’t have done it without them, and they are as proud of our beautiful new store as we are.”

The weekend celebrations will include very special fashion shows on Saturday 30th November, which will be hosted by two of Ireland’s most loved and respected designers and personalities, Brendan Courtney and Sonya Lennon. As well as showcasing their own Lennon Courtney collection, which is exclusive to Dunnes Stores, there will be the collections from Dunnes Stores own brands including Gallery and Savida, along with all the other exclusive designer brands.  One of Ireland’s top make up artists, Derrick Carberry will also be in store to meet customers and to provide Styling Sessions for some lucky competition winners.

On Sunday 1st December Ireland’s leading garden designer, Diarmuid Gavin will be in store, running a number of gardening workshops.   Also taking to the stage will be Aileen Cox Blundell of Baby Led Feeding fame, with mini workshops on how mums and dads can prepare food that can be enjoyed by the whole family, including baby.

Paul and his team are also organising lots of kid friendly activities throughout the weekend. There are plans for a very special guest, Santa Claus, together with some of his elves, to call in store over the weekend to celebrate with everyone. On the Family Day on Sunday 1st December there will be Puppet Shows, a Fyffes Banana Colouring Station and a special reading of The Dolls Complaints children’s book.

Throughout the weekend there will also be lots and lots of prizes to be given away at the tills – another great way to celebrate the new look store, with Dunnes Stores Gift Cards for lots of lucky shoppers, which will be a great start to the festive season for many visitors to Briarhill.

More details on the schedule of activities and events for the festive weekend will be announced over the coming week, and these will be available through Facebook and Instagram.
