Mount Sackville Nursing Home Expands with Grand Opening of New Wing: 1.3 million Investment in Enhancing Care and Comfort for Residents

Mount Sackville Nursing Home is thrilled to announce the successful launch of a €1.3m extension to their nursing home located in spacious grounds on Tower Road, bordering the Phoenix Park on one side and Farmleigh Estate on the other.

This expansion marks a significant milestone in Mount Sackville’s commitment to providing exceptional care and safe accommodation for older people in the community.

The launch event, held on Tuesday, May 21st, was a celebration for all involved. Leo Varadkar TD cut the ribbon and Fr. Damien McNeice PP Castleknock blessed the new wing.

Sisters came from Cluny Communities in Ireland and Scotland and were joined by the Residents, their families, staff, former members of Staff, local Clergy, County Councillors and various people associated with Mount Sackville down the years.

Other special guests included Bailey, the Nursing Homes therapy dog, Howard and Cyril, their rescue donkeys, Freckles, their retired Sheep and their pregnant pygmy goat, Stella.

The Mount Sackville Primary and Secondary school choirs also showcased their choral talents.

Sister Maeve of the order spoke at the launch: “At a time when small nursing homes are sadly closing down, we don’t take for granted how lucky we are here at Mount Sackville and we deeply appreciate the opportunity to introduce these exceptional facilities to our cherished residents. Every day, it brings us immense joy to positively impact and enhance the lives of those within our care and the wider community.”

She continued: “With a focus on comfort, safety, and building a supportive environment, the new wing reflects our unwavering dedication to enhancing the quality of life for those under our care.”

The new wing consists of a single storey extension to the rear of the existing nursing home comprising eight bedrooms with ensuites and assisted bathrooms. The new facilities aim to enhance the quality of care provided to residents by offering additional private spaces and improved accessibility. With each bedroom equipped with its own ensuite, residents will enjoy increased comfort and privacy, fostering a homely atmosphere while maintaining the necessary support services.
