Olympic Hopeful Supports Limerick Fundraiser in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland – New Limerick Greyhound Stadium, Saturday 26th February 2011.
This Saturday night will see a first for the New Limerick Greyhound Stadium and for The Irish Greyhound Board (IGB) as it is the first time ever that the IGB are hosting a Multi-Venue Family Benefit Night. In aid of Down Syndrome Ireland and in association with The Irish Examiner the event will take place across ten locations; Limerick, Cork, Tralee, Galway, Mullingar, Dundalk, Dublin, Newbridge, Thurles and Waterford.
To show support for this national fundraiser, one of Ireland’s top 2012 Olympic Hopeful’s, Award Winning Irish Swimmer, Grainne Murphy, joined the team at the New Limerick Greyhound Stadium and the local Down Syndrome Branch this week to show her support in advance of this fundraiser.
Grainne was a triple gold medallist at the 2009 European Junior Swimming Championship and was awarded the title of Irish Sportswoman of the Year 2010. Grainne stated “I know firsthand how much fun Greyhound Racing can be for all the family. My father and grandfather are both involved in Greyhound Racing so I have grown up with a great love of the sport and I am so delighted to be supporting this event, raising vital funds for such a worthy cause.”
A limited number of Tickets for the Limerick fundraiser which commences at 6.30pm are still available online at www.igb.ie; www.downsyndrome.ie or from the local Limerick branch of Down Syndrome Ireland.
The theme of the event is a good value, family friendly event to raise much needed funds for Down Syndrome Ireland nationally and locally. The funds raised will be distributed to both the national fund and to regional DSI branches. Tickets include access to the races on the night plus a race programme. Across all venues there will be goodie bags for children, raffles and auctions as well as all the thrill of the races. There will be a fantastic Weekend Break for Two up for grabs at each venue, courtesy of Select Hotels Ireland.
Family tickets to the event will cost just €20 (2 adults and up to 4 children) and individual tickets €10.
