Cork City was buzzing with excitement last Friday as Society, the much anticipated trendy new night club opened on Oliver Plunkett Street, after weeks of hype through Facebook and sightings of the Society logo projected onto various buildings around Cork City. Owners Brian Corish & Gavin Payne, the Fuse-Interactive duo invited over 350 guests to the launch, including a special sneak preview with a champagne and cocktail reception beforehand for a selected few. A samba band & saxophone supremo Gary Baus entertained guests with a unique mix of live and recorded Brazilian, jazz and house music.
Young entrepreneurs, Brian and Gavin, are no strangers to the music scene, as for the last 14 years they have been DJ’ing in many of Corks previous top spots including Club One, The Pavilion and H20. The pair also won the Shell Livewire Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award last year for their other business interest, broadcasting firm Fuse-Interactive, which specialises in visual interactive experiences.
Speaking at the event, Brian Corish said “We’re delighted with the support we’ve received here tonight. It has been a challenging few weeks, making sure everything would be ready on time, but we got there in the end! Tonight was a small taster of what the new club will be offering our clientele, but there is a lot more to come”
Over the next few months there will be lots of technological surprises introduced to the club, offering customers something completely different to anything else that has come before. Gavin Payne went on to say “We want this to be more than just a club, providing groundbreaking “Fuse” visual and interactive experiences, never seen before in Ireland or abroad. We also want to provide both accessible and live music to our customers in a stylish environment, and we have some big acts lined up so watch this space.”
