St Mark's Opera Company to host Magnificant Music Event @ St Mary's Church of Ireland, Killarney

As part of this year’s Christmas in Killarney festival, Florence  based St Marks Opera Company are to host three nights of a wonderful selection of Operas and neapolitan song. Not only will the people of Kerry be enthralled by the dramatic stories unfolding before their very eyes, but from Thursday December 10th to Saturday December 12th 2009, they will also get to experience the same delight many Florentines and visitors to the region have for many years.

Critically acclaimed by the Washington Post and The Guardian newspapers, each performance consists of professional opera singers in full costume, accompanied by one of their top virtuoso pianists.

On Thursday, December 10th, The Gala Opening evening will produce a selection of ‘The Best of Opera’, followed by drinks & canapés in The Ross Hotel. Tickets cost €35.00 each.

Friday will see the first of two performances, La Bohème by PUCCINI, one of the most touching love stories ever – Rodolfo the poet and Mimi the seamstress find each other in Paris. Life as a Bohemian is difficult, but with help from their friends Marcello the painter and Musetta the showgirl, they manage. However, Mimi’s fragile health and Rodolfo’s fierce temper leads the opera to take a dramatic turn.

On Saturday La Traviata by VERDI “The Fallen One”, will be preformed. Inspiration for the movies “Moulin Rouge” and “Pretty Woman”, La Traviata sees courtesan Violetta, falling in love with Alfredo Germont, a young nobleman, against the will of his father, Giorgio Germont. Tickets cost €25.00 per each night. Three day passes are also available (inc drinks on opening night) for a special rate of €60.00. All three events will begin at 7.30pm.Tickets are on sale now, available from Deros Tours, Main Street, or The Randles Court Hotel, Muckross Road, Killarney.
