The Capitol moves a step closer to completion

The €50 million Capitol Redevelopment Project in Cork which is well underway and on schedule, this week enters a significant phase of construction as the final steel structure has been completed and the facades are starting to be put in place, giving the public their first glimpse of the finished architecture.

The Capitol Project, with frontage to both Patrick’s Street and the Grand Parade, adjacent to The English Market, will house large retail outlets and state-of-the-art grade A office space designed to gold LEED standard over five floors.

The development which marks the first step in the rejuvenation of Cork City and a momentous investment into the heart of the city centre is attracting significant interest from well-known retail brands as well as large international companies who are looking for superior grade A office space with an abundance of amenities for their staff.

The next generation office space will showcase 360 degree panoramic views overlooking Cork City centre, stretching all the way east to Tivoli, west to County Hall, north to Shandon, and south to the hills of Douglas. The unrivalled vistas, which cannot be seen from any other landmark in the city centre, along with the internal atrium and external terraces, enhance the spectacular work environment the building offers potential occupiers.

Located in the heart of the city centre, occupants of the building will enjoy the best of both worlds, with the hustle and bustle of a thriving city on one side, and the tranquillity of Bishop Lucy Park on the other. The office space floor plates will stretch from Grand Parade to Patrick’s Street and will feature floor-to-ceiling glass, an impressive internal roof garden and atrium combined with an extremely energy efficient design.

A spokesman for JCD said, “since starting works on the 25th January we are very pleased with construction progress on site and are on programme to be complete by February 2017. We would like to thank the traders in the English Market and adjoining businesses for their continued support. We expect to make announcements in relation to retail occupiers very soon and are extremely encouraged by the level of interest in the office space which has proven to be very attractive with its large floor plate efficient design at this unique location.”
