YMCA Dublin celebrates 173 years of supporting communities in Dublin

YMCA Dublin is proud to be celebrating a monumental milestone of 173 years supporting young people, families and communities in Dublin. It is one of the oldest registered charities in the world, working across inner city Dublin since 1849. Joined by young people and members of the community, YMCA Dublin marked the occasion at YMCA on Aungier Street in Dublin.

YMCA Dublin engages with local communities through youth work, PlusOne mentoring, community work, community childcare and community employment to support the development of skills, experiences, relationships and behaviours for healthy, confident and successful futures.

Kathryn O’Mahony, CEO of YMCA Dublin said “It’s an honour to mark YMCA Dublin’s 173rd Birthday and 173 years of supporting the communities in Dublin’s inner city. I’m so proud of all the team members and volunteers that have dedicated their time, effort and generosity to make YMCA what it is today.”

“Following a difficult number of years during the pandemic, YMCA is now more resilient and stronger than ever and look forward to growing and continuing our services. We are delighted to be able to celebrate YMCA’s Birthday in person once again and look forward to many more years to come.”
