New Partner Appointed at FitzGerald Solicitors

Leading law firm FitzGerald Solicitors has appointed solicitor Douglas Sadleir as a Partner focusing on Commercial and Private Client Law.

Mr Sadleir who joined FitzGerald Solicitors, located in Lapp’s Quay, Cork, in January, 2014 is also a Chartered Tax Advisor and Notary Public.

The new appointment highlights the value the firm places on its key personnel, and also its continued commitment to build its team in line with the needs of its clients.

FitzGerald Solicitors employs 25 people, including 5 Partners.

Douglas Sadleir qualified as a solicitor in 2005, and has experience in advising, particularly commercial clients, in the area of taxation, company law, property and borrowing. He has advised in the areas of business acquisitions and sales, the incorporation of sole trades, joint ventures, shareholders agreements, corporate reorganisations, family succession, share redemptions, EIIS scheme documentation, facility letters and security including dealings with NAMA.

Prior to joining FitzGerald Solicitors, Douglas trained in general practice at SLP Solicitors in property, probate and litigation. Mr Sadleir moved to specialise in tax in Grant Thornton, Dublin, and subsequently in the area of tax and commercial law at a leading Cork practice from 2007 to 2013.

Mr Sadleir completed the AITI, Ireland’s leading tax qualification, and he currently lectures the Institute of Taxation Part 3 Professional Advice, Tax Audits and Ethics module. He previously lectured on the Tax and Estate Planning module for the Institute of Bankers. He has also tutored and lectured for the Law Society of Ireland. As a former winner of the International Negotiations Competition in Calgary, Canada, Mr Sadleir has been a frequent judge of the Irish student negotiations competition.
