Sean Taaffe, owner of award winning hair salon group Sean Taaffe Hair and Beauty, has today announced he is returning to education. Having left school at the age of 14, Sean will be studying for a Certificate in Management, from the University of Limerick. Also attending the course will be the General Manager of Sean Taaffe Hair and Beauty, Kara McDonagh.

The Certificate in Management programme is part of UL’s Kemmy Business School, and will see both owner Sean Taaffe and General Manager Kara McDonagh putting their heads in the books, as they cover modules such as managing employee relations, quality management, managing change and conflict in the workplace. The course is set to run from August 2017 to the end of April 2018.

Speaking on his decision to return to education, Sean Taaffe said,“Being an early school leaver, I never got that ‘college experience’ that everyone else had. My experience of going to college will be different to most, I’ll be there as a mature student, all with the aim of upskilling myself. This is something that is for the benefit of not just the Sean Taaffe Group, but also for my customers and employees. My career has always been about continuous professional development and this is a testament to that commitment."

Sean continued,“Both myself and Kara are extremely eager to learn what we can, the fact that we are both going into the course together adds that extra bit of morale support. We’ll be there for each other. It’ll be a strange feeling putting a school bag on my back again, but we are already looking forward to the challenge.”
