JustCooking.ie Student Appears as Youngest Contestant on RTE1's Series "HEAT"

The series HEAT returned to our screens last night on RTE 1. JustCooking.ie, a Cookery School based in Kerry, were approached by the programme to recommend a contestant for the show. They decided to put forward Niamh Switzer, from Tralee, who later made it into the final cut for the series.

Niamh, aged 20, was the youngest of the contestants and is currently studying English and Psychology at UCC, Cork. Bernie Doe, who runs JustCooking.ie with her husband Mark, was delighted when Niamh was picked to take part in the series. "When we were asked to recommend someone who attends our Cookery Courses, we knew straight away that Niamh would be the one to put forward. She is really passionate about food and wasn't afraid to try new things in the classes. We would love her to win the show." 

Each week the two amateurs from Team Dundon and two from Team Thornton will first cook off against each other to win the vote of their mentor and represent the team in the HEAT restaurant. Then for one night, the restaurant and its kitchen are split down the middle and one chef from each team goes head-to-head.

Niamh was partnered with celebrity chef Kevin Thornton and got to spend time in his Dublin restaurant, Thorntons, preparing meals. Niamh states, "I loved every minute being on the show. Kevin was great and I got to see and taste things I never knew existed!" Cooking was just a hobby for Niamh, who loved going along to JustCooking.ie courses to get great ideas and tips, which helped her on the show. Not for one second did she think she would end up on the series HEAT!

JustCooking.ie Cookery School is located in Firies, Co. Kerry, which is only five minutes from Kerry International Airport and 10 minutes from both Killarney and Tralee.
