Batt O' Keeffe, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation launches new Dublin office for Headland Archaeology (Ireland) Ltd with the creation of 5 New Jobs and 30 more New Jobs ExpectedHeadland Archaeology (Ireland) Ltd cemented their position as one of the largest archaeology firms in Europe with the launch of an office in Dublin by Batt O’Keeffe, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation.

The company which supplies commercial archaeology services to the UK, Ireland and Europe now has offices in Cork, Dublin, Galway, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London.The establishment of a permanent office in Dublin was seen as the next logical step by the company. Heading up the Dublin Office is Teresa Bolger, Regional Manager.

Teresa's directing credits include a series of Bronze Age sites on the route of the Drogheda by-pass, as well as a large early medieval settlement landscape near Balbriggan, Co. Dublin and an Iron Age timber built waterfront structure in the heart of Dublin. Teresa has also served on the board of the Institute of Archaeology of Ireland (IAI) and is editor of the IAI News. Managing Director, Colm Moloney welcomed the Minister to the new offices which are based at Harcourt St. Dublin 2.

He said "The establishment of this office is an expression of our confidence not only in our own ability as a company to deliver our unique services, but in the future of the commercial archaeological industry in Ireland, and further afield. We expect our company to grow and we have just created five new jobs hiring two geophysicists and two surveyors. We plan on creating 30 new jobs within the next year. We offer archaeologists a chance to stay in Ireland and grow and develop with our company rather than watching our best talent leave."

Minister O'Keeffe toured the new offices and examined artefacts found on archaeological digs including a bronze spearhead. "Headland Archaeology's expansion and the creation of new jobs shows the commercial archaeology sector has growth capacity and firms that innovate and adopt new technologies will increase market share. The company has gone through a period of restructuring in order to evolve into an international heritage service provider tailored to an emerging new market. The establishment of the Dublin office is part of a growth strategy that will see the development of regional centres of excellence tasked with developing new products for the global heritage market. This office will compliment the offices in Cork, Galway, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hereford and London with new offices planned for Belfast and continental Europe in early 2011.
