 Cork will play host to a very special occasion on Saturday 22nd October 2011 at the Clarion Hotel in Cork City Centre.  The event titled “Serve – Pray – Love”, is taking a little inspiration from the recent Julia Roberts film “Eat, Pray, Love” and will be a chance for people to come to an event offering guests a little time out for reflection, inspiration, a lot of fun as well as discussion on how we can all play our part to make better communities, both locally and globally.  

Anyone who has read Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel or watched Julia Roberts on screen in “Eat, Pray, Love” embraced the journey of one person, examining three different aspects of her nature, set against the backdrop of three different cultures: pleasure in Italy, devotion in India and on the Indonesian island of Bali. 

At the event, “Serve – Pray – Love”,which is being organised by Humanity in Unity (HIU) Ireland, you will get a little taste of what Julia’s character Melissa experienced on her travels, but you will do this without the visas, passports or expensive flights. The event will certainly be a blend of cultures both spiritually,musically and intellectually.

This spiritual event aims to inspire people to “Service”. Inspire and awaken our community to take part, take time to help those in need in these challenging and changing times.

Guest of honour at the event will be Her Holiness Sai Maa, an Ambassador for Global Enlightenment and Humanitarian issues. Born and raised on the island of Mauritius of Indian heritage. Sai Maa is an international spiritual master, healer and leader of humanitarian efforts. She inspires and energizes people worldwide through Sai Maa Diksha (pure light blessing). With her unique combination of Eastern spiritual wisdom, Western therapeutic knowledge and maternal love, Sai Maa shares lessons to uplift humanity and help people master their own lives as she has mastered hers. Sai Maa has published two books, Petals of Grace: Essential Teachings for Self-Mastery and Points of Light.

Sai Maa has over 50 centres and communities throughout the world in support of her educational and humanitarian work. These centers are located throughout the US, as well as in South America, Canada, France, Belgium, England, Ireland, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

This event is an opportunity for people to experience an evening away from the day to day pressures, take some time out – a time for reflection, positivity, community spirit and lots of fun!”

At the event will be the launch of one of Sai Maa’s new global initiative's 'Just One' addressing world hunger. Sai Maa’s philosophy is that if everyone just concentrated on feeding just one person in need, no one in the world would go hungry.  The Irish section of the 'Just One' initiative is twofold. They will raise funds for feeding people at home in Ireland and in India where Sai Maa's particular concern is feeding children.  The Cork Simon Community will be the first to benefit here. Funds raised from the Irish section of the “Just One” Campaign will go to initially supporting soup runs and Simon shelters with a view in the long term to nationally supporting charities like Simon in their work to feed and give shelter.

 “Serve – Pray – Love” will also provide an eclectic blend of entertainment on the night. There will be speakers from Cork Simon Community, Scala Service &Youth Ministery and Local food bank projects, interspersed with performances by Internationally acclaimed Irish singer of spiritual songs from many traditions, Nóirín Ní Riain who will be joined by well known Donegal fiddle player Tommy Peoples. Followed by talented, vibrant local musicians. Don't forget your dancing shoes! There will be a special address and opportunity for questions with Sai Maa.

Linda ended by stating “Serve – Pray – Love” will be a spiritual experience, we invite as many people as possible to come and experience a taste of Indian philosophy and humanitarianism, with our own Irish slant to it with culture and music.  We see a coming together  of a wide range of people, looking for a little time out with like minded people, who wish to see the positive side of life and learn what part they can play in helping people both globally and much closer to home.” 

Humanity in Unity Ireland is a non-profit organisation that sponsors and supports the teachings and global humanitarian work of Sai Maa. Humanity in Unity hosts meetings in Cork, Dublin, Derry, Ennis, Galway, Kerry, Mullingar, Nenagh, Mullingar and Clonakilty.
