Manor West Birthday Celebrations prove to be a huge success- the Party Starts here!!!

11 November 2011

An estimated crowd of 16,000 came to the centre to wish Manor West a happy birthday and help celebrate and join in on the top entertainment.  Centre Manager Derek Rusk, was thrilled with the weekend success and said “It was a great community event and a way for us to give back to our loyal shoppers. The entertainment was top notch and everybody really got into the celebrating spirit”.

The fashionistas of Tralee were treated to a style experience with RTE’s fashion guru Brendan Courtney hosting fashion shows throughout Saturday with The Style Squad showcasing all the great fashion that is available at the Manor West Retail Park. Brendan was on hand to meet shoppers and gave styling hints and tips for this autumn/winter season.   Brendan also gave prizes to the audience compliments of all the retail stores and Manor West Hotel.  Brendan also gave away many of the newly launched Manor West Multi Centre Gift Cards – which were very popular prizes as they can be used in any of the stores in the Centre and of course the Hotel as well.

The fashionable pooches were not forgotten as there was a Petmania fashion show with doggies all competing for the much coveted title of Tralee’s next top model dog and Angel, an Alaskan Malamute, strutted home with the title. This was a unique and very entertaining show.

Throughout the day, shoppers were able to keep an eye on candidates who had been chosen for a special makeover compliments of Manor West. Winners were chosen on Radio Kerry and Facebook and both competitions had a huge response. Margaret Raggot and Sheila Costelloe, both from Tralee were the lucky winners.  The pampering involved hair and makeup and outfits and both looked their absolute best at the end of the day. Margaret said “It was such a great experience and I loved meeting Brendan Courtney. I was delighted that my husband nominated me”.

The Manor West Charity of the year was announced on Saturday and the winning charity was- Build4Life a well deserving charity that is fundraising for dedicated CF facilities in Cork University Hospital which benefits the people of Kerry. The winner was chosen through a public vote with people voting on a Facebook poll and in store ballots and the numbers voting grew into the thousands.

As the winner they received a package which could yield the charity in excess of€20,000 in the year and was the recipient of the very first Manor West €1,000 Gift Card.  The Manor West Charity of the Year is a brand new venture for Manor West and they are going to make it an annual event as a way of giving back to the community and raising awareness for the associated charities.  Joe Brown, founder of Build4Life was present on the day to accept the Gift Card on behalf of the Charity stated “It’s an honour to be chosen as Manor West’s Charity of the Year and we intend to make full use of the many opportunities that have been generously offered by the Manor West to raise awareness and vital funds for people living with CF in Kerry.”

Kids were kept entertained throughout the weekend with face painting, balloons and the always entertaining Fanzini brothers performed their Cannonball Show which proved a real hit with all the spectators.

On Sunday guests were treated to a fabulous Cookery Demonstrations with Manor West Hotel’s Executive Chef Bart O’Sullivan  and Just Cooking’s Mark Doe – Can’t Cook – Won’t Cook – who got the audience involved and everybody left with a few cookery tips to bring them through the festive season.
